Thrust Bearings
Thrust Bearings are designed to support high axial loads. Different types of thrust bearings are used to support different amounts of axial load.
Thrust Bearing types:
Ball Thrust Bearings – ball bearings supported in a ring. Used in lower thrust applications where there is little radial load. Washers can be flat or grooved.
Roller Thrust Bearings – Composed of cylindrical rolling elements and have higher load carrying capacities then equally sized ball thrust bearings due to surface area of rolling elements. Washers are typically flat (not grooved).
